Four major National Trust properties lie within half an hours drive; Powis Castle, Chirk Castle, Attingham Hall & Erddig House.

Pen-y-Dyffryn Country Hotel is one of Shropshire’s best hotels, a fact recognised by it’s consistently top rating on TripAdvisor and the numerous awards it has received. It offers the facilities of a beautiful country hotel, good food and spa treatments, whilst set in the unspoilt Shropshire and Welsh border hills. Near to Oswestry and Shrewsbury and Chester, it is a perfect retreat for walkers, golfers, shoppers, foodies and idlers!
Lost to the world in a blissful valley, Pen-y-Dyffryn is a silver-stone former Georgian Rectory, right on the Shropshire -Powys border. The fields in front tumble to a stream marking the Welsh border, and the hills around are best viewed from one of the many garden chairs scatered around the lawns and terraces. A stroll around the lily pond might be you ideal pre-prandial activity, but there are few more popular activities than tucking into tea and cake on the hotels’ south- facing terrace where our guests can be found on sunny days soaking up the heady atmosphere.
Inside the hotel are fresh flowers, log fires in the cooler months, and a bar and a wine list to satisfy even the most thirsty palate.
Bedrooms are stylish and modern, but more importantly have great views of the surrounding hills. There are spa baths in many bedrooms to help you get in the mood, and some bedrooms have private patios, others have double jacuzzis. There is one ground floor room for less able guests, and pets are welcome as well as humans in certain rooms.
All bedrooms are of course en-suite, with LED televisions, free wi-fi and tea and coffee facilities.
We offer a huge variety of spa treatments at the hotel, from Indian Head Massage to Reflexology, all done in the privacy of your bedroom.
Dining in the beautiful south facing restaurant is central to the Pen-y-Dyffryn experience, and is the single most common reason our guests give for returning so often. We are one of the longest-holding 2AA Rosette restaurants in Shropshire (15 years now), and the menu is changed every single day of the year. Ingredients are sourced locally and both Welsh and Shropshire produce feature most nights.
Is there a bar? Of course! And a wine list, with over seventy bins to choose from.
